Home to some of the highest sand dunes in the world, Sossusvlei is Namibia's iconic desert wonderland inside the ancient Namib Desert. At sunrise, the towering, fiery-red dunes glow against stark white clay pans like Deadvlei, creating a dramatic, ethereal landscape that feels like another planet. Further north where the desert collides with the Atlantic, Walvis Bay offers a striking coastal contrast, featuring dramatic ocean-meets-dunes scenery and a sheltered lagoon home to thousands of bright pink flamingos. Off shore seals, walrus and sea lions can be found on the sandbanks.
